YouTube, the world biggest video site today announced that they have called off the video upload time limit for part of the users, so that the selected users can upload a video more than 15 minutes to YouTube.As long as it's your original content, it's fair game regardless of length.
From now on, YouTube will begin to allow selected uses with a history of complying with the YouTube Community Guidelines and their copyright rules to upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
Tips: If you are a registered YouTube users, now you can log in to your account, click the 'Upload' button at the top of the site to see if your account qualifies; and users that were previously failed to upload video for being too long have to go into 'My Videos' and delete the old video before uploading it again.
Background: Since at least 2006, the time duration limit of YouTube videos uploaded by users was 10 minutes, until the 15-minutes limit was imposed this July. The time limitation policy for uploaded YouTube videos had been always working in case there is any full-length TV episodes or feature movies would be uploaded to YouTube by unauthorized users.
Thanks to YouTube's state-of-the-art Content ID System and other tools that help copyright owners protect their rights, the new policy can become possible.
As of March 2010, 24 hours of video content is uploaded to the video site per minute.
