YouTube Editor Launches Creative Commons License for Better Video Sharing and Remixing

Good news! YouTube launches an amazing feature for video creators today.

Stace Peterson, Software Engineer of YouTube made an announcement earlier today in a post of YouTube Official Blog unveiling that the video site launches a new license for user-created videos called "Creative Commons", which gives YouTube users the right to share and remix videos marked with the new license.

What does it mean? Generally, we can directly use part of or the whole videos marked with Creative Common license in our own videos. The Creative Common-license videos can be found in YouTube Editor CC tab section. The link is http://youtube.com/editor.

I found a YouTube video introducing the new Creative Common license. Here it is and you can download it with Leawo YouTube Downloader or YouTube Downloader for Mac.

It's really a good news for mashup video creators such as DJ Earworm, the man who made the "Mashup of Top 25 Billboard Hits" video. As it offers users a convenient way to make their own pop videos from others' and don't have to worry about the copyright issues.

So far there are totally about 10,000 Creative Commons-licensed videos in the library, which are established by YouTube, C-SPAN, Public.Resource.org, Voice of America, Al Jazeera and others. Just feel free to remix them to your own video projects.

According to Stace Peterson's post, there are something more about the Creative Commons license videos:

1. Videos incorporated with Creative Commons license content will automatically show the source videos' titles underneath the video player.

2. You are permitted to create Creative Commons-licensed videos so that other YouTubers can remix or reuse your works in their projects. To do so, just choose the 'Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)' option on the upload page or on the Video Description page.

That's all for the Creative Commons license. Have a nice weekend:)
